We Shall Not Forsake You
What a curious choice of words. A political IED, set to blow up on the President when money and interest languishes and Haiti returns to its entrenched patterns of corruption and crime. . . . more

Larry M., Jan 13, 2013, 10:27PM UTCPlease consider reading my novel "Invisible Hand" either here on gather (see my profile for the TofC links to all the chapters) or at http://www.nopom.info/ where there are no ads and both text and MP3 copies of the complete novel. I think you will find the ideas in it unique.

Matthew R., Sep 25, 2009, 2:29PM UTCSam,
On the point of M. Wilson:
Nobody suggested that the man should be validated. All that was said, for my part anyway, was that his "outburst" could have been responded to effectively in the moment had it occurred in a political context like that of Prime Minister's Questions. There's no need to get so jingoistic over this suggestion. If we were to adopt a less formal approach to Presidential Addresses, along the lines of PM's Questions, it would not be the first idea that we've taken from the Brits. Have you heard of that little thing called the Common Law?
Finally, policy is the issue for the very simple reason that we are in the midst of a debate over health care reform. You may think that M. Wilson is a "shithead" and a "racist"--and he may well be both--but to link these observations to the larger conversation about reform is, by definition, an ad hominem circumstantial fallacy. To avoid the fallacy, you must invalidate the comment by addressing the comment itself, not the man. I described what a response along these lines might look like in one of my previous comments. Consult it if you're interested -

Cathi L., May 11, 2009, 2:43PM UTCI agree with you. This is supposed to be about discussion here. I was surprised when I read it. At the least his posts should state that it's a feed only.
Anyway, just thought you'd want to know. Hope you have a great day! -
Cathi L., May 11, 2009, 10:40AM UTCHey Sam. I responded to a comment from you about Rob Port but I don't think you saw it. I found out the following in May. Just thought you'd like to know because I get frustrated when people don't respond on their own post, too.
Rob Port, Johnny Bowden, Sun D., Amy Sherman, WBUR FM, Paul D., M.J. Rose, American Public Media (APM) and others have an RSS feed set up with Gather from their blogs/sites outside of the community. Their content THERE is published HERE automatically...without a need for them to sign in.
In fact, most of these members publish content on Gather regularly, yet never interact with members or respond to comments on their content. You can often identify their posts by the lack of available image shortly after their posts appear in the community. -
Bonnae C., Apr 28, 2009, 10:17AM UTCThis is my brother. I'm so proud. Keep giving them hell
