Hey Sam, Peter Roskam, erstwhile aide to the likes of both Hyde and Tom Delay; later an IL State Rep and Senator, beat out Democrat Tammy Duckworth, disabled Iraqi vet, to take Hyde's seat in 2006. Both parties pulled out the stops for their candidate; Roskam won by 2% (quite a district, eh?). Duckworth was later named to head the Illinois Dept. of Vet. Affairs.

My family moved from the South Bend, IN area to Elgin during my H.S. years, so I'm a Larkin graduate, a U of I graduate, and an MPA from Northern Illinois Univ. It is indeed a small world--my business is 4 blocks north of Roosevelt / Rte. 38 (named "State Street" in Geneva)--about what, 5 miles from your old crib. I've enjoyed your contributions to Gather for, I guess, years now. Have a great day.
